Dynae carries out vibration analysis on a 1927 schooner named Trinakria

Our Dynae specialists are experienced in the vibratory and electrical diagnosis of industrial machines and in the search for faults in electrical equipment and photovoltaic panels and have put their know-how to work on the Trinakria. This 50m schooner, built in the Austrian Wienerwerft shipyard in 1927, was completely restored in 2014. She now has five luxurious cabins.

Last March, the captain of the famous three-masted ship asked our Dynae experts to remedy the discomfort suffered by the occupants of the cabin located just above the engine room. Our specialists carried out a vibration analysis of the propulsion line and the hull, with the aim of limiting the effects of noise and vibrations during engine navigation. To do this, they placed a series of sensors to identify vibration amplitude and frequency.

On completion of their analysis, they were able to confirm to the captain that the schooner's four-bladed propeller needed to be replaced with a five-bladed propeller, to reduce the pressure pulsations that were causing the hull and cabin to vibrate. Before undertaking this expensive replacement, our client wanted to be sure that the problem was actually with the propeller.
