Expercité designs and deploys the City of Lille’s video protection system as part of the Lille European Metropolis (MEL) contract

In Lille, the project to design and deploy video protection and an optical loop supporting the creation of the Urban Supervision Center is ongoing. Our Expercité specialists are currently continuing work on a contract with the European Metropolis of Lille (MEL) awarded in 2018 to improve security for over a million inhabitants.

Our employees have created a 46 km optical loop linking the various district town halls, as part of the video protection system rollout. They also deployed and commissioned 67 video surveillance cameras during 2021. By the end of 2022, 48 additional cameras will have been installed on sectors predetermined by the city of Lille. Ultimately, more than 300 cameras will be deployed as well as major projects over the coming years.

"We designed and built an Urban Supervision Center that was commissioned at the end of 2021, enabling the Urban Security Department and Lille Municipal Police to process footage captured by the stationary cameras, as well as from the nine Eiffage Autonomous Video (EVA) mobile terminals that we have deployed in the city of Lille," said business manager and project leader Jean-Claude de Conceicao

EVA mobile terminals are used as needed in neighbourhoods without video surveillance. These mobile cameras were designed and patented by Eiffage Énergie Systèmes and can be mounted in less than an hour on a high wall or a street lighting pole. They are equipped with an inbuilt server and a modem and operate on battery power (or 220 V). They can transmit images in real time, via WiFi or 4G.

This global video surveillance system has been fully operational since the end of last year, but the Urban Supervision Center, located in the new municipal police headquarters, was inaugurated by Mayor of Lille Martine Aubry on October 14. Furthermore, the contract has just been renewed for a period of 4 years.
